Located just a few kilometers from the famous Guruvayur Temple, Punnathur Kotta is a unique 11.5-acre sanctuary that serves as the home for over 50 elephants belonging to the Guruvayur Devaswom. Formerly a palace of the Punnathur Rajas, this historic site is now the world’s largest elephant camp of its kind, where these “gentle giants” are cared for, trained for temple rituals, and given traditional Ayurvedic treatments.
