We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Tourist Guide to join our hospitality team in Thrissur. As the first point of contact for visitors to the “Cultural Capital,” you will be responsible for bringing the city’s 2,000-year-old history, majestic temples, and vibrant festivals to life through captivating storytelling and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Guided Tours: Lead individuals and groups through iconic sites like the Vadakkunnathan Temple, Shakthan Thampuran Palace, and the Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours.
- Storytelling: Provide deep insights into the history of the Cochin Royal Family, the architectural nuances of the Kerala style, and the legendary origins of the Thrissur Pooram.
- Excursion Management: Coordinate and lead day trips to nearby landmarks such as the Athirappilly Waterfalls, Kerala Kalamandalam, and the Punnathur Kotta Elephant Sanctuary.
- Safety & Logistics: Ensure the safety of all tourists, manage transportation schedules, and assist with entry tickets and local permissions.
- Cultural Ambassadorship: Educate guests on local customs, traditional art forms (Kathakali, Kudiyattam), and etiquette for temple visits.
- Customization: Tailor itineraries to meet the specific interests of diverse groups, from history buffs and photography enthusiasts to spiritual pilgrims.
Qualifications
- License: Possession of a valid District-level or State-level Tourist Guide License (accredited by Kerala Tourism or KITTS) is highly preferred.
- Language: Fluency in English and Malayalam is essential; proficiency in additional languages like Hindi, Tamil, or foreign languages (French, German) is a significant advantage.
- Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of Thrissur’s geography, religious history, and the Kole wetland ecosystem.
- Communication: Exceptional public speaking and interpersonal skills with an energetic and friendly disposition.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, often in outdoor or tropical weather conditions.

- Crisis Management: Basic training in First Aid and emergency response protocols.
- Photography: Ability to assist guests in capturing the best views at locations like Vilangan Kunnu.
